Dear OPTIMUSCRIME.COM
What is this absurd fascination with Canadian music people have? Check out this article:
"Aaron Wherry, Postie by day, music blogger by night, is an organized man. While we enjoy giving a year-end best-album rundown, Aaron's raised the bar by organizing a 15-blogger meta-list of the best Canadian records of the year. Here are the results, with our five picks highlighted in green:
1. Arcade Fire - Funeral
2. Feist - Let It Die
3. Stars - Set Yourself On Fire
4. Junior Boys - Last Exit
5. k-os - Joyful Rebellion
6. Death From Above 1979 - You're A Woman...
7. AC Newman - Slow Wonder
8. Hidden Cameras - Mississauga Goddam
9. Detroyer - Your Blues
9. The Marble Index - The Marble Index
9. controller.controller - History EP
9. Mike Clark - Darker Machines
13. Wolf Parade - EP
14. In-Flight Safety - Vacation Land
14. The Sadies - Favourite Colours
14. The Organ - Grab Your Gun
14. Sarah Harmer - All Of Our Names
14. Lorrie Matheson - A Dime At A Time
19. Royal City - Little Heart's Ease
19. Tegan & Sara - So Jealous
19. Telepathic Butterflies - Songs From A Second Wave
19. Les Mouches - You Mean More...
19. Bedouin Soundclash - Sounding A Mosaic
24. Leonard Cohen - Dear Heather
24. Daydream Nation - Bella Vendetta
26. Broken Social Scene - Beehives
26. Frog Eyes - Ego Scriptor
26. The Dears - Thank You Good Night
26. Raising The Fawn - The North Sea
26. City Field - City Authentic
26. Sarah Slean - Day One
26. Sixtoo - Chewing On Glass
26. Julie Doiron - Goodnight Nobody
26. Apostle of Hustle - Folkloric Feel
All we have to say is this: tied for twenty-sixth? Has no one actually heard this Julie Doiron record? It's stunning, and we feel sorry for y'all for not loving it."
Have I been living in a cave and not giving a flying fuck? "Death From Above 1979"? Does that imply a bunch of 25 year olds got together and have an album called...wait for it- "You're a Woman..."?
Tragic.

Must be a Slow News Day
Got picked up by Wonkette this morning and I'm glad I don't host the blog myself because I think my server would just die in a horrible blue flame of internet traffic... as it is I am waiting for my flickr account to lock up, any second now....
...now...
-also- adding Julia Bonk to the Bliss has altered the traffic to this site in some strange and subtle ways. My Lohan readers have been far outstripped by the German and French fans of Ms. Bonk- and they don't tack on "nude" or "porn" to the end of their search phrases...yet. I am going to attempt to interview our young Ms. Bonk via IM at some point.
First step- see if she speaks/reads/writes English.

Kind of a bizarre life
When people write you emails like this:
"Hey! What are you doing tonight at around 4 am? "
-but you're already out and you don't get home to see the email until 9 PM, two days later- and wonder which day they meant...or...
"Let me know when you want to pick up your shoes (note- yes, I forgot them somewhere again...)...how are you feeling today?? I am a mess! SOOO tired and sketchy...hopefully will feel a bit better later to clean the place up..."
I found half an E in my wallet. I told my roommate when she got home from work of this good fortune; she inquired, "Did you do it?"
You can wake up on any weekend at 9 AM and know where to go to party. Right then.
Random people are calling me for tickets to clubs I don't even go to.
People laugh when I say I need a vacation--so do I.

Noam Chomsky
Noam Chomsky at World Social Forum 2003.
Noam Chomsky is featured on the main page of Wikipedia today. I saw him speak at Concordia in the mid-nineties and his views on how western media was self-censoring opened my eyes to a number of things.
His criticism that US meduia was being more unflinchingly supportive of the Israeli government than even the Israeli press drew the ire of the Jewish students in the crowd...

"Simon Doonan, creative director for Barneys New York, is not amused that tonight's debut of Jennifer Lopez's fashion line as part of New York fashion week is the hardest ticket to nab. 'We've only ourselves to blame because we've given celebrities these deranged feelings of omnipotence,' he said. 'She'll be doing brain surgery next.'"And I'm sure Simon was equally disturbed when Arnie was elected Governor of California...sure....

Sandra Bullock donates $1M for tsunami relief
See these are the kind of things that justify my weekness for a good Sandra Bullock vehicle. She's so nice! And SOOO average in that "what-holywood-thinks-is-the-girl-next-door" kind of way.
Oh- and I'd also like to point you to fellow blogger and my fave suicide girl, Aria. Her photosets kind of represent the flip side of all this: hot, tatooed 20 year olds
and Sandra Bullock...
OK- how long do you wait for an email before it is never coming?
A day, two days? Will a waited for email never arrive, much like a watched pot that will never boil?
Related note- how long does a friendster message take to get?
Better stick to the phone...or MSN...
As Zippy The Pinhead would say,"I'm in too much of a hurry for instant gratification!"

And another episode of "Gravity Kills"
Some poor 9 year old girl has tragically died whilst skiing.
Well, it wasn't the skiing part that killed her, really- it was the sudden stopping against an immovable object. And since the news wires all mention a lack of helmet being a contributing factor, I can assume it was a head-blunt-trauma injury that got her, rather than a branch-soft organ-piercing internal bleeding kind of death.
Why stories like this continue to make the news is beyond me- skiing is a rather hazardous activity involving:

- speed
- gravity
- a slippery surface, or two if you waxed your skis properly
- nature in general- specifically- sheer drops and various rocks and trees
